What Data We Collect

Account Information

When you sign up, we collect your email address and password (encrypted). If you use a social login, we receive basic profile info from that provider.

Usage Data

We track which podcasts you browse, which episodes you shrink, your subscription plan, saved favorites, and playback activity. This helps us improve the service and personalize your experience.

Payment Information

Payment details (credit card, billing address) are processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your full payment credentials — only Stripe does.

Analytics & Cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand how people use PodShrink (pages visited, time on site, etc.). This involves cookies and may collect your IP address. You can opt out of Google Analytics using browser extensions or privacy settings.

AI Processing & Third Parties

We use third-party AI services to generate text summaries from podcast transcripts and convert those summaries into narrated audio. These services process episode content (transcripts, metadata) to create your summaries. We don't send them your personal account information.

We also use Stripe for payment processing. Stripe handles all payment data according to PCI-DSS standards and their own privacy policy.

Data Retention & Deletion

We keep your account data as long as your account is active. Generated summaries and saved favorites remain available while you're subscribed. If you delete your account, we remove your personal information within 30 days (though we may retain anonymized analytics for business purposes). Backups may take up to 90 days to cycle out.

You can delete your account from your account settings.

Security

We use industry-standard security measures (encryption in transit and at rest, secure hosting, restricted access controls). No system is 100% secure, but we take data protection seriously. If we detect a breach affecting your data, we'll notify you promptly.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights like:

Access: see what data we have about you
Correction: update inaccurate info
Deletion: request removal of your account and data
Portability: get a copy of your data in a readable format
Opt-out: stop receiving marketing emails (account notifications still go through)

PodShrink is not intended for users under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If we discover we've collected info from a child, we'll delete it promptly.

International Users

PodShrink is operated in Canada. If you're accessing from elsewhere, your data may be transferred to and processed in Canada or other countries where our service providers operate. By using PodShrink, you consent to this transfer.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you by email or a prominent notice on the site. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
